Smoke On The Water

26/365

26/365: Smoke On The Water

If you are familiar with Flickr (and I think you are, since you are on a photo blog), then you know that everybody would like to get on "Explore". Of course, nobody knows exactly how, although there are some vague ideas out there about it.

Well, this is the very first photo of mine that got on Explore. It did not peak very high (#146) but it was still great to finally get one on. I wouldn't have expected it would be this one.

"I caught the blackjack right behind my ear. A black pool opened up at my feet. I dived in. It had no bottom"

Blue Reflections

7/365: Blue Reflection

it is rare to see such a vivid blue sky in Houston, a city that is as famous for its air pollution as its traffic jams. Today, the weather was gorgeous and the sky was stunning blue. 70 degrees in January. What more can you ask for.

This is the Texaco Heritage Building, probably the most recognizable skyscraper in the Houston skyline. the smaller, older building in the foreground is the old public library building.
Other than some basic color correction, no major post processing was performed on the photo.

Week one is behind us. 51 weeks and 299 pics to go.

Happy New Year! Project 365, Here I Come.

1/365 1/1/2011 Back Home to Start A New Year

Our New Year's Eve was spent in an airplane, about to land in the Houston airport, with the flight attendant counting down to midnight, fireworks going off below us ALL over the city, and then Auld Lang Syne played over the PA system at the stroke of midnight. ...You couldn't plan a more magical moment!
By the time I got home, after more than 24 hours of traveling, I had no energy to unpack anything. Woke up this morning to start my year with this.

This year, I have decided to be serious about a 365 project. One pic a day for an entire year. I have been thinking about this for a while and it's about time to jump in. This blog will not feature all the photos from every single day (those can be found on my Flickr photo stream-link to the right) but any photos posted here will probably be part of that project.

So it begins...
